Patinated Ponies
This is the place where I put my favorite photos that I've taken, and thoughts that I've... thought. Rarely will I reblog, but if a photo or quote is so inspiring, it may find its way on here.
"Patina" is my favorite word, and I, um, really like ponies. I might be five, I might be twenty.

In high school, some boys told me that I looked like the blond girl from this video (or, actually, they told me I looked like the blond girl “in that Smashing Pumpkins video,” and I’m pretty sure it’s this one). I hadn’t seen the music video. I said thank you, and wanted to feel flattered, but I was terrified that they were playing some joke on me, that the girl was hideous. I was so terrified that I never even looked up the video.
It popped up on someone’s facebook recently, so I watched it. And she’s pretty! And really really looks like me, at least from the side.
And it made me laugh, but you know, in that way where your eyes don’t quite light up, don’t get the memo. Because I filtered so heavily in high school. I ignored every nice thing people said to me, or turned it into an insult. All I could see were the cruel comments people had for me. I was miserable in high school. But I see now that I didn’t have to be.
